Tearing of the Veil

By now it was noon. The whole earth became dark,
the darkness lasting three hours— a total blackout.
The Temple curtain split right down the middle.
Jesus called loudly, "Father, I place my life in your hands!"
Then he breathed his last.

Luke 23:44-46

Only the high priest would ever dare to enter the Holy of Holies,
and then only one one day of the year with a rope attached
so others could pull him out if he were overwhelmed by God's holiness.
The tearing of the veil at the time of Christ's death showed that
God's love could not be contained. Holiness was offered to us as
a possibility because of the cross.
